Why me?
I've always had a knack for looking at a problem differently and finding creative, practical ways through it. Over 35 years working in construction means that thinking is grounded in a deep understanding of buildings, what can be changed, what the constraints might be, and what it takes to turn an idea into something that works in the real world.
My MA in Sustainable Design broadened that perspective. Sustainability isn't just about energy and materials. It's also about making places that work for the people who live in them, thinking about changing needs over time, and making better use of what we already have.
Think Spaces brings all of that together. I look at the home, the building and the people living in it as connected, rather than treating the building project as the starting point.
Asking better questions
Knowing how buildings work is only part of it. Before I can think creatively about a space, I need to understand the people living in it.
My training as a coach has sharpened how I listen, ask questions and get beneath the obvious answer. Someone might arrive thinking they need an extension, but the first question is what they're actually trying to change about the way their home works.
This isn't coaching. The conversation helps me understand the problem. The value is in using that understanding to find possibilities that might otherwise be missed.
