The conversation before the conversion.

Extend, reconfigure, or move? Decide it alone, and you're spending tens of thousands finding out if you got it right. Talk to someone who isn't paid more the bigger you build, and you'll know before you start.

Maybe you've outgrown your home. Maybe the layout just doesn't work anymore. Maybe you're weighing up an extension, a loft conversion, or moving altogether, and you're genuinely not sure which one actually solves your problem.

About a third of people who regret their renovation say the real problem was rushing the decision. When researchers asked what would have made the biggest difference, the answer wasn't more money. It was more time to think it through properly before committing.

Before you spend tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds changing your home, there's a conversation worth having first.

How it works

What I Do

Rethink
Start with the problem, not the building work. What isn't working? How do you actually use your home? What's changed since you moved in? What are you trying to achieve? The obvious answer isn't always the best one.

Reimagine
This is where the creative work happens. I'll look at your space and find options you haven't considered, drawing on 35 years of hands-on design and construction experience. Layout, flow, light, storage, flexibility, what's realistically achievable.

Perhaps the answer is an extension. Perhaps it's a clever reorganisation of what you already have. Perhaps there's a possibility you hadn't considered at all.

The point isn't to give you more ideas. It's to find better ones.

Realise
You'll see the possibilities laid out clearly, with the thinking behind them: what each option could achieve, what it would involve, and where the compromises are. So if you decide to take your project forward, you'll do it with a clearer brief, greater confidence, and a much better sense of what you're actually trying to achieve.

Why independent matters
I'm not an architect, builder, or interior designer trying to win the next stage of your project. I don't take referral fees, and I'm not paid more if you spend more.

I also get a genuine buzz out of finding a clever way to achieve the same result for less. If there's a cheaper route to what you actually need, finding it is the part of this I enjoy most.

What you get

  • A creative exploration of the spatial possibilities, grounded in what's actually achievable
